I started with a pile of  tee shirts and no idea. I had a friend that knew a friend that was looking for someone to make her a memory quilt from her husbands old tees. Her husband was the love of her life and died too young and she gets through each day just one day at a time without him. I was up for the challenge but I found that taking someones clothing and cutting it up was so very difficult for me to do. On the one hand I was chopping something that would never be able to be put back together and on the other hand, I was going to try to have to honor a true love with the bits and pieces I salvaged for the project.

The next step was trying to find fabric I could add to my quilt to give it the cozy feeling the customer wanted. She wanted to wrap herself in a blanket that reminded her of her husband and she wanted to be able to cry, feel loved, and remember him as she did so. I had a lot fo pieces to work with and he was a big Michigan fan and Tigers fan so I thought for sure these colors would be the end of me but I came up with a great idea and found the perfect jelly roll to use on my journey to crteating this quilt.

The finished product came out better than I thought it would, I earned a good commission for the quilt and pillow and the person I made this memory quilt for is now able to wrap herself in the love of her husband every day. We all have different coping mechanisms and I was happy to help her keep her husband's memory alive!

Update for the fresh start of 2022

With COVID looming in the air and a bunch of anxiety I couldn't kick, I took a long break and got away from the habits I loved. After speaking with my family and trying to figure out my place in life I am back at it! My plan is to create my art, share my trips and strategies for saving some money, and showing everyone who did or even didn't believe in me, that it is never too late to start to get into a place that is healthy and comfortable for retirement. I do not pretend to know everything or even anything about money, but I am willing to invest the energy to learn and share. I am an artist, I have A D D and can never focus on one thing at a time so I am easily distracted, I am a great planner but usually never follow through because I get a new idea or can't focus on the idea I have at the moment. Sharing what I learn will be a great challenge for me. I know that with the support of my family and the time and energy I give to my own success, I can help people along the way by showing you my baby steps  and hopefully you can begin to take baby steps with me.  Stay with me and let's see how 2022 treats us! I'm going to feed the pig with every sale, and every money saving tip I use then I'm going to share my experiences with you. I will show you what I did and how I did it and share the results .... let's say once a month. We can revisit the monthly update in the future but I don't really know what that looks like yet.

The next thing I would like to do is ask you to comment on what sort of content you would like to learn about. Are you saving for something other than retirement? are you looking to decrease debt? anything you want to learn or know more about just throw it in a comment below, even if you want to just say HI. This is actually my first post about the new content but I will be back to check out any comments or suggestions that will help us all become successful!

With all of that said, lets get it started.

I'm starting a YoutTube channel and you will be able to catch the first video here:

Baby Quilt

I made this quilt with a pack of cut squares I found at Joannes, it takes more than one pack because  I had to cut 5 extra squares in two other colors, now I know for next time to buy two packs. Tell me what you think, I had a few squares left so I made a matching bib.

My Pretty Peacock

I am an artist through and through, I can't focus on just one genre, I have so many ideas and so much in my brain that there will never in my lifetime be enough time to do everything I want. I went through my painting stage last year and whipped up tons of paintings and I wanted to share one with you here. I love bright colors and to see them all on a bird well, that's just awesome! It's like hitting the feathered jackpot!

I love dots and details and I just like to mix and match my style to fit my needs. I hate rules, never follow them, and make up my own as I go. Painting is a great release and it's one thing you can do all by yourself without anyone telling you how it should be done. I have paintings all over my home that I have created and I move them around the house all the time depending on my moods.

This painting is an acrylic done on a 16"x 20" canvas. You should never be afraid to express yourself and I just wanted to share this with you so you can see there are not rules about everything in life, sometimes you can hang out in your pj's and whip up a work of art.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and wow I love this beauty! Thanks for visiting me and I'll see ya 'round the block!
